  1. What is Social Security Disability (SSD)?
When you and your employer pay taxes for your social security retirement, you are also covered for benefits when you become disabled before retirement if you have paid in long enough.

  2. Who is eligible to apply for social security disability benefits?
If you have a medical condition that prevents you from working for at least a year you can apply for social security disability.

  3. If I have not worked much, am I still eligible for social security disability?
You might be. It depends upon how much you have paid in and other factors. We can find out. Also, even if You never worked or worked very little, You may be entitled to supplemental security income.

  4. What is supplemental security income (SSI)?
SSI is a disability program operated by the social security administration that pays disability benefits to Individuals with low income and few assets. The definition of disability is the same as social security disability (SSD).

  5. Are children eligible for social security disability or supplemental security income.
Disabled children can be eligible for disability benefits on the account of a parent in some circumstances and disabled children can be entitled to supplemental security income as well. Some firms do not do children's cases. We do.

  6. I applied for benefits some time ago and my hearing is coming up very soon. I don't have a lawyer but I now think I want one, can you represent me?
Yes, we are able to step in at the last minute, get the necessary evidence and represent your interests at a hearing.

  7. Does your firm have experience in social security disability law?
Yes. Our lead attorney has more than 25 years experience working for social security in the hearing office and he and our lead paralegal have years of experience representing clients seeking social security. We know the process, have represented clients at many hearings and know the people in the offices which help us get results for our clients.

  8. What if I want an attorney but can't afford one?
The social security administration has anticipated that people who have disabilities may not have funds available to hire an attorney. Accordingly they have approved a contingency fee process where there is no fee for the attorney unless the case is won. If successful, the attorney is entitled to 25% of the client's past due benefits.

  9. How long does the process take?
It depends, but It can take more than a year. Using our experience, we make every effort and use every tool at our disposal to move your case along as quickly as possible.

  10. Do I have to travel to your office to hire you?
No. We understand that people who are disabled have difficulty traveling. We do most of our interviews by telephone and we send forms through the mail. We will certainly meet you if you wish, either at one of our offices or at a location convenient to you.

  11. If I am successful in my case, how long does it take to get my benefits?
It can take some time, usually 30 to 60 days. We have experienced staff that help speed the payment process once we win your case, unlike other firms.

  12. Will I be able to get medical insurance if I am successful in my case?
Yes, in most cases right away.
